Gangneung-si, Gangwon, met directly with import/export companies in the province and arranged a place to spread the word about the current status and benefits of Okgye Port's international container route operation.

On the 15th, the city held the '2024 Gangneung Okgye Port Port Sales' with TriHub Korea, the Okgye Port container service operator, Janggeum Sang Seon, Heunga Line, and Sebang at the Gangneung Science and Industry Development Center.

The city invited more than 100 participants from Gangwon export associations and business groups such as Gangneung Sang and Gangneung City Export Association, and import and export companies in Gangwon region, including Lotte Chilsung, to the event.

The city explained the Okgye Port development strategy that continues to be promoted to ease the burden on companies in Gangwon region, which have logistics costs that are about 1.7 times higher than the national average due to lack of container services and lack of logistics infrastructure, and to promote regional economic development.

In addition, export discussions were held through Okgye Port's international container route service.

Since 60% of raw materials for import/export companies in the province are imported to Incheon Port, and 57% of export cargo uses Busan Port, the city expects that the revitalization of Okgye Port will enhance the competitiveness of enterprises in the province and actively respond to the growing demand for logistics in the Gangwon region.

An official from Gangneung City said, “This port sales event will be an opportunity to widely publicize Gangneung City's port development strategy, including Okgye Port container services, to import/export companies in Gangwon region.”

Meanwhile, Okgye Port has recorded a container volume of approximately 20,000 TEU since the first international regular container route was launched in August of last year.
